BIRDSEYE
A rare figure found predominantly in sugar maple (acer saccharum). On average 1 in 1000 sugar maple trees will develop the figure and a further 1 in 1000 birdseye maple logs will be Master grade!

FLAME
Flame figure usually refers to the figure resulting from quarter-sawing curly maple. The figure is common in eastern red maple (acer rubrum). It's also found in sugar maple but rarer.

CURLY
Curly figure is usually flat-sawn and most common in eastern red maple. Most of the time if the log has enough sapwood we will choose to saw these logs to yield quarter-sawn flame figure.

-5A Figure = High figure, rare and not always in stock.
-Master = One of a kind, might get a handful of logs per year.

Our plain flat-sawn maple neck blanks are predominately sawn from sugar maple. Some may have minor figure.

QUILTED (out of stock)
Quilted maple is a figure most commonly found in the softer big leaf maple (acer machrophyllum) which grows along the western parts of North America. Great for guitar body material but too soft for us to use as electric guitar neck blanks.
